Kara Tointon

Kara graduated from MAPA at the age of 17, already having worked in the industry as a child actor in many adverts and small roles in TV productions. She belonged to the Sylvia Young Agency. Kara has maintained a close association with the Academy and is now our Patron. In 2010 Kara was the winner of Strictly Come Dancing and her other TV appearances include Dawn in Eastenders, Mr. Selfridge, The Halycon, Maria in the “Live” production of The Sound of Music. She has been seen more recently on Channel 5 in Too Good To Be True and The Teacher. Kara is also very passionate about Dyslexia and has inspired many pupils who struggle with this learning difficulty in her own TV programme. Her roles onstage comprise of Eliza in Pygmalion, The UK Tour of Gaslight and Twelfth Night with The Royal Shakespeare Company.
